Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are NOT “on the verge of a split,” despite a new In Touch report that sounds like a lot of old, discredited In Touch reports. Gossip Cop can bust the story, which claims the couple is making a “desperate bid to save their marriage” from a “$425 million divorce.”
There’s no new information given about Pitt and Jolie’s alleged problems. In Touch just rehashes debunked tabloid rumors about the couple’s marriage beginning to “fall apart” right after they married (not true) and their supposed balcony fight in Sydney, Australia (sensational speculation). The twist this time around is the magazine’s claim that Africa, the next movie the two stars will reportedly work on together, is a Hail Mary to revive their relationship.
“It would be a last-ditch effort to repair and save their marriage,” explains a so-called “source” close to the couple. “But if their working relationship is anything like it was on By the Sea, a divorce will be looming.” According to In Touch, Pitt and Jolie are “barely speaking” and living “separate lives.”
Of course, this is the same magazine that falsely claimed in December that Jolie’s relationship with her Unbroken star Jack O’Connell was imperiling her marriage. It’s the same outlet that said in November that Jolie and Pitt’s “fight to end all fights” in Sydney would be their undoing. It’s the same tabloid that wrongly predicted a Jolie showdown with Jennifer Aniston at the Golden Globes. Month after month, In Touch makes outrageous allegations about Jolie and Pitt, and time after time, the magazine is proven wrong.
That’s the case here, too. No matter WHAT the couple does at this point, In Touch will use it to manufacture a crisis. Jolie and Pitt’s potential Africa collaboration is not a sign of impending doom or divorce. It’s a professional decision, period. A source close to the situation tells Gossip Cop the In Touch report is “totally ridiculous.”
