Amanda Knox is engaged to musician Colin Sutherland. The 27-year-old, currently working as a freelance journalist in her native Seattle, gained international notoriety in recent years with her sensational legal drama in Italy, where she was accused of murdering her roommate, Meredith Kercher, in 2007.
Knox spent almost four years in an Italian prison after authorities blamed her and Raffaele Sollecito for Kercher’s death. Knox was initially convicted of murder in a trial that was criticized for a lack of evidence and questionable tactics by local law enforcement officials and prosecutors.
In 2011, an appeal trial overturned the conviction, and Knox was set free and allowed to return to the United States. But the Italian Supreme Court ordered that the second trial be re-examined, and in 2014, Knox was once again found guilty and sentenced to serve another 28 years in prison. Knox once again appealed, and that verdict is expected to be delivered in the coming weeks. In the meantime, she remains free and living in Seattle.
Knox split from a different musician boyfriend, James Terrano, last year. She and Sutherland have reportedly known each other since they were children. Gossip Cop will have updates on her ongoing legal battle.
