Taylor Swift made sure her devoted fan Rebekah starts 2015 a little happier. The superstar singer, who spent the holiday season sending personalized gifts to shocked and appreciative fans, has apparently not stopped in the new year. Watch the emotional video below.
As recounted on Tumblr and Twitter by a stunned Rebekah, Swift recently replied to one of Rebekah’s posts with a heart-stamped envelope emoji, indicating that a package could be on the way. Sure enough, a box arrived this week, and Rebekah was overwhelmed by what was inside.
Rebekah filmed herself opening the package (see video below), in which she found a handwritten note from Swift. “I was thinking about you today, and how you have been there cheering me on in the most thoughtful and creative ways,” Swift wrote to Rebekah, mentioning a video and other posts Rebekah made.
Swift continued, “I got out my paints for the first time in a while today and made you something. I really, really, really hope you like it. I’m not a good painter, but you’re so beautiful and positive, even though you’re dealing with the stress life brings, so I wanted to make you something.”
Swift had painted a picture for Rebekah, and taken a picture of herself painting it. She also enclosed one of her old necklaces, and a check for $1,989 to help with Rebekah’s student loans. Just days earlier, Rebekah had written online about not having a job, having to make loan payments, and “freaking out” under the pressure.
To say Rebekah was surprised and overwhelmed by Swift’s thoughtfulness and generosity is an understatement. She later wrote to Swift: “I know I’ve said it so many times already but thank you, thank you, thank you, from the bottom of my heart. Never in a million years did I ever imagine this happening to me, I never imagined you even knowing who I was let alone you taking your time to paint me something and to write me a note. I am so honored and so thankful to call myself a fan, to have supported you all of these years because you are truly the most amazing, genuine, and selfless person.” Take a look at her pictures of Swift’s gifts below, along with the emotional video in which she first opens the package.
