Suge Knight allegedly killed his friend Terry Carter in Compton on Thursday when he hit the man with his car before fleeing the scene. A lawyer for the rap mogul confirms he was behind the wheel, but the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department tells Gossip Cop that his involvement has not yet been officially confirmed by investigators. See video taken in the aftermath of the incident below.

According to Knight’s attorney, James E. Blatt, the music star was involved in an altercation with two crew members on the set of a commercial being filmed with Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, and The Game. Knight sought to escape via his car, and ran over two bystanders, one being Carter, and the other a man named Cle “Bone” Sloan. Blatt says Knight plans to turn himself in to the authorities.

A police spokesperson tells Gossip Cop, however, that they have “not confirmed it’s Suge Knight” who was behind the wheel. “We have no suspect information at this point. No one is in custody,” stresses the rep. We’re further told that while one victim (believed to be Carter) was pronounced dead at the hospital, the police are unaware of the second injured party’s condition, though the person (believed to be Sloan) was also transported to the hospital for medical care.

In footage obtained by TMZ (see below), paramedics are seen attending to one of the victims, possibly Carter, and a witness says, “Terry was in the driveway in front of his car, and [Knight] runs over Terry, smashed his head and everything.” The man goes on, “So now he’s not even breathing. They’re trying to resuscitate him right now. Doesn’t look like he’s going to make it.”

Carter and Knight were “close friends,” says Blatt, though the details of their connection are unknown at this point. Sloan, a reformed gang member who has worked as a director and producer, has appeared in movies like “Training Day” and “End of Watch,” and in the TV series “Southland.” Gossip Cop will have updates.
