Selena Gomez did not give Justin Bieber an “ultimatum” to “change or be ‘washed up,’” despite another made-up story about the two young stars. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk this report. Not surprisingly, this fabricated claim was made by HollywoodLife, a site whose business plan seems to be to create a significant number of manufactured stories that will generate traffic from various fan bases.

But before we tear into this phony story, give HollywoodLife a little more traffic and look at a bunch of their other Bieber and Gomez stories. What you will find is more than a trend. It’s a disturbing pattern of the site manufacturing fake stories about the two which, thanks to the passage of time (and Gossip Cop’s reporting), have been shown to be provably untrue.

Now, let’s look at HollywoodLife’s latest creation: The webloid alleges to have inside information about what Gomez and Bieber discussed when they had dinner at Mastro’s Steakhouse in L.A. last week. According to made up quotes from one of HollywoodLife’s fabricated sources, “When they met last week at Mastro’s, Selena basically told him that he was going to end up ‘washed up’ before his 21st birthday if he didn’t make some drastic changes.” It’s interesting how the blog’s “source” very unnaturally mentioned, “When they met last week at Mastro’s” in order to give context to the rest of the phony quote.

“Justin’s split with Selena was a real wake-up call. He realized that he had better clean up his act if he wants to be taken seriously as a singer and a potential actor,” HollywoodLife quotes its supposed “source” as saying next. It’s interesting how the blog’s “source” very unnaturally says, “and a potential actor.” The faux insider is also quoted unnaturally saying that Bieber wants to prove to “Selena and everyone else that he can be a man of honor and integrity.”

If these quotes from HollywoodLies, er, HollywoodLies seem fake it’s because they are. Even Gomez herself has called out the site for making up stories. Not too long ago, she wrote on Instagram, “Hollywood life is never true. Ever.” Regardless, Gossip Cop checked in with a real source, and we’re told Gomez did not give Bieber any such “ultimatum” about “change or be ‘washed up,'” and that any such claim is “just not true.”
