Kevin Hart says he could never play a gay role in a movie. The star made the comments during a Friday interview on Power 105’s “The Breakfast Club.” Watch the video below.

The Wedding Ringer star had been asked if he regretted turning down any roles, and he mentioned Tropic Thunder. The part of Alpa Chino was eventually taken by Brandon T. Jackson. “First of all, before I say this, I’m politically correct to the gay community. I respect and appreciate anything and everything you all do. And as people, I love you,” explained Hart. “[That said], the part was way [gayer] in the beginning. The dude… he was doing a lot of stuff in the draft that I read. It was real flagrant. It was a lot of stuff, and I was like, I can’t do this.”

Asked if he would ever play a gay role, Hart replies, “No. Not because I have any ill will or disrespect. It’s because I feel like… I don’t think I’m going to dive into that role 100 percent, because of the insecurities about myself trying to play the part. Does that make sense? Like, what I think people are going to think while I’m trying to do this is going to stop me from playing the part the way I’m supposed to.” Watch the video of Hart’s comments below, and tell us what you think.
