Kate Upton did not “reject” a marriage proposal from her boyfriend Justin Verlander, despite a new tabloid report. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk the claim, which was made in Star. Upton, through her publicist, tells Gossip Cop exclusively that the magazine’s story is “completely not true.”

According to the supermarket tabloid, Verlander “didn’t have the happiest of holidays this year” because Upton “turned down his marriage proposal.” Star alleges the Detroit Tigers pitcher “got down on bended knee on New Year’s Eve and was stunned when… [Upton] said thanks but no thanks.” The not exactly reliable magazine then quotes a so-called “source” as saying, “Kate’s well aware of the fact that supermodels almost always make less money the second they get married, so she told him to ask her again in a year.”

Let us stop here for one moment: Besides the story being wholly fabricated, its claim about married supermodels making less money is also entirely untrue. Gisele Bunchen, according to Forbes, has been the highest paid model every year since (and even before) she married Tom Brady in 2009. Last year, the very much wedded supermodel made $47 million.

Getting back to Star’s nonsense, the tabloid’s made up “source” adds that Verlander was “red-faced” after Upton rejected his marriage proposal, but she’s “so confident in her relationship that she knows Justin will wait.” The magazine’s bogus “source” further notes that Upton would “just rather be a girlfriend for right now.” As Gossip Cop stated earlier, there was no proposal on New Year’s Eve. There was no “turned down” marriage proposal. And there is no truth whatsoever to any of Star’s claims. Much like batters facing Verlander, the magazine has struck out again.
