Dakota Johnson Glamour Whiplash

Jamie Dornan really hurt Dakota Johnson while filming Fifty Shades of Grey. “There were some painful moments. I got whiplash once from him throwing me on the bed; so f*cking painful,” she tells Glamour in a new joint interview with her co-star.

Dornan was not totally comfortable with what he was asked to do. “Some of the Red Room stuff was uncomfortable,” says the actor, who portrays BDSM enthusiast Christian Grey opposite Johnson’s Anastasia Steele. “There were times when Dakota was not wearing much, and I had to do stuff to her that I’d never choose to do to a woman.”

He tells the outlet, “Christian was a massive challenge. I’ve played a couple of sick, sick dudes, serial killers… and characters who don’t treat women the way society deems appropriate. But it’s just TV, movies — it’s not real. I’ve always had a deep respect for women. I have two sisters. My father spent his career as an obstetrician-gynecologist caring for women… But you have to find something likable in every character you play. I like how driven Christian is. [Still], I don’t think I would like him if he was a real dude and we met.”

Dornan seems to have done everything possible to keep Johnson comfortable, even when things got intense.
It’s stressful enough to be tied to a bed naked in a scene,” she tells Glamour. “But then they call cut, and you’re still tied to the bed, naked. Jamie would be the first one to throw a blanket over me.”

It may surprise fans to learn that both Dornan and Johnson are turned on by… hands. “I’ve got a thing for great hands,” he explains. “My wife [Amelia Warner] has my favorite hands in the world. Being from Northern Ireland, I’m programmed to enjoy stories, so I find it sexy if a woman can tell a funny story. And I’ve always found attractive talking to someone who’s achieved something that I couldn’t.”

Johnson says, “Like Jamie, I like good hands. Manly hands. I grew up in Colorado, and there are manly men there, so manliness is attractive to me.” Watch a Glamour video with Johnson and Dornan below, and tell us what you think of their interview.
