The outgoing and incoming hosts of the “Late Late Show” had a charming and hilarious segment together on Wednesday’s episode. Craig Ferguson welcomed his successor James Corden to the show with a mix of teasing, hijinks and sincerity. Check out the videos below!

Ferguson started off by mock-interrogating the British actor-comedian, forcing him to state his name, where he’s from, and what he does for a living. “I don’t do anything at the moment,” replied Corden, prompting Ferguson to quip, “Get used to it!” The host went on to say, “I’m delighted you’re taking over, and I’m very, very sorry for what’s about to happen.”

Ferguson then asked, “Are you sure you want to do this?” Corden got big laughs when he answered, “I think it’s too late now, Craig.” Ferguson sarcastically told his replacement, “People are so kind. Especially on the Internet.” Corden self-deprecatingly admitted, “I’ve had some experience with that already. You have some passionate fans.” Ferguson then said to the camera forcefully, “Leave him alone!” He further said of Corden, “He’s lovely, and smells like biscuits.”

After wishing him luck, Ferguson asked the super-nervous Into the Woods star to throw to commercial. Corden buried his face in his hands, and confessed, “Even this is making my chest race! I can’t breathe!” It was actually rather adorable, as was Ferguson jokingly interrupting Corden when he asked him to do the closing at the end of the show. Corden is set to make his hosting debut on March 23. Check out the videos below, and tell us what you think!
