HollywoodLife just spent another week lying about Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez. Gomez herself has called out HollywoodLife in the past. She said the site’s stories about her are “never true.” Her words, not ours. HollywoodLife seems to be written by children, and the site’s immaturity has come to define its coverage of Gomez and Bieber, with a barrage of contradictory and outright false reports that often taunt the people involved.
In recent days, HollywoodLife has continued to be the absolute worst. On Monday, the webloid published this headline: “Justin Bieber & Hailey Baldwin: Why He’s Not Chasing After Selena Gomez.” The story was all about Bieber “pursuing” Baldwin, and how it was “only a matter of time” before they start dating.
On Wednesday, HollywoodLife picked up a bogus tabloid report and ran this headline: “Justin Bieber Ring Shopping For Selena Gomez Proposal.” According to HollywoodLife, Bieber is planning to “revive Jelena” with a marriage proposal. Again, HollywoodLife published this headline two days after saying Bieber was “not chasing” Gomez.
On Thursday, HollywoodLife announced, “Selena Gomez & The 1975′s George Daniel: Hot For Each Other.” On the same day, the site announced, “Justin Bieber & Hailey Baldwin Have Fallen For Each Other.” Suddenly, one day after claiming Bieber was going to propose to Gomez, HollywoodLife said he was in love with Baldwin. Oh, and when Gomez posted a completely unrelated Instagram picture of herself, HollywoodLife used it to say she was “taunting” Bieber.
On Friday, HollywoodLife shrieked, “Justin Bieber: Selena Gomez ‘Hurt’ Over Hailey Baldwin Romance.” The story was all about how Gomez allegedly couldn’t believe Bieber had found a new romance so quickly and was shocked. Of course, HollywoodLife had previously said that Gomez had moved to Daniel just as quickly. This complete logical breakdown is never explained.
Week in, week out, HollywoodLife publishes as many stories about Gomez and Bieber as possible. It doesn’t matter if these stories make sense. It doesn’t matter if these stories contradict each other. All that matters to HollywoodLife is dangling a rumor in front of fans, hyping and sensationalizing it as much as possible, and taking no responsibility for whether it winds up happening. HollywoodLife should not be trusted.
