Charlie Sheen’s “Anger Management” has been canceled after FX decided not to renew the series for additional episodes. The news, first reported by RadarOnline, comes at the completion of the comedy show’s 100-episode order.
As Gossip Cop reported, “Anger Management” debuted in 2012 under a 90-10 agreement, whereby if the first 10 shows were successful, the network and production company would agree to 90 more. While that worked out, ratings since then haven’t warranted an order for more shows beyond the 100 episode mark, leading to the cancellation.
In a statement Sheen says, “I am beyond proud of what we accomplished over the course of 100 episodes of ‘Anger Management.’ We created something uniquely special with some of the most talented individuals I have ever had the privilege to work with. My sincere thanks to all for their unwavering love and support. Here’s to the next chapter.”
The show was not without some behind-the-scenes drama. As Gossip Cop reported, Selma Blair was fired last year, allegedly due to a feud with Sheen, who himself was fired from “Two and a Half Men” in 2011. Then in March, Sheen was reported to be missing work, though his rep denied the claims.
“Anger Management” was based on the film of the same name that starred Jack Nicholson and Adam Sandler. The show’s 100th episode, and now series finale, will air Monday night.
