Jimmy Fallon hilariously mocked President Obama on Tuesday’s “Tonight Show,” around the same time it was revealed Republicans dominated the midterm elections. And, amazingly, Taylor Swift was involved.

The late-night host started off by sharing that the President made an appearance over the weekend, in which he told the crowd, “You’ve got to vote. Vote. Vote. Vote. Vote. Vote. Vote. Which went on for an hour until someone finally fixed his teleprompter.” Fallon went on to joke, “Personally, I think the problem with that message is that it’s not catchy enough.”

Fallon then played a mashup of Swift’s “Shake It Off” video and the President calling on people to vote. Lines like, “The players gonna play, play play, play, play” and “Haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate” amusingly became “The players gonna vote, vote, vote, vote, vote” and “The haters gonna vote, vote, vote, vote, vote.” Staying true to the original song, however, Obama still encouraged everyone to “shake it off.” “That’s catchier,” Fallon explained afterward. “He should’ve done that the whole time.”

Would it have helped the President’s case? Of course it’s highly unlikely, and it’s unlikely Kanye West’s last-minute plea did either. As Gossip Cop reported, the rapper took to Twitter after 6 p.m. on Election Day to reveal he and Kim Kardashian had met with Obama. “I’m supporting the Democratic ticket in these midterms. The midterms are extremely important,” tweeted West.

Maybe a West-Obama mashup would’ve had better luck? Check out Fallon’s funny video below, and tell us what you think!
