One Direction released its new song “18″ on Tuesday. The highly-anticipated ballad was written by Ed Sheeran and is featured on the group’s upcoming album “Four.”
The boy band took to Twitter to share Sheeran’s romantic lyrics and announce that the single was available to fans who pre-ordered the album before its release. The song’s chorus is “I have loved you since we were 18/Long before we both thought the same thing,” wrote One Direction in a series of tweets. They continued: “To be loved and to be in love/And all I could do is say that these arms were made for holding you oh oh oh whoa I wanna love like you made me feel/When we were 18.”
Sheeran also promoted the song on Twitter, writing, “I wrote a song called ’18′ on the new one direction album, the song is released today at 4pm uk time x.” The British singer previously discussed the track with the English music station Capital FM in October. He said, “I’m really happy with the record that I wrote for them,” noting, “It’s the first record I’ve actually specifically written for them.”
One Direction’s album “Four” will officially drop on November 17. The group has been promoting the album on numerous media outlets, including BBC Radio, the German show “Wetten, Dass?” and a Google hangout this past Sunday. Check out their latest song “18″ below, and tell us what you think!
