Katherine Heigl: I Don’t Think I’m “Rude”

Katherine Heigl knows she doesn’t have the greatest reputation in Hollywood, but she doesn’t understand why. In a Facebook Q&A on Saturday, a fan asked the actress about “rumors” that she’s “very rude,” and Heigl gave an interesting response.

“Yeah I’ve heard those too…honestly I don’t think I am…nothing makes me more uncomfortable than confrontation or hurting someones feelings and I would never, ever actively do so on purpose,” Heigl wrote in her reply. “Of course just like any human being I’ve made mistakes and unwittingly or carelessly spoken or acted but I always try to make any wrong right.”

The star went on to clarify, “That doesn’t mean I won’t stand up for myself by drawing boundaries and asking to be treated kindly and respectfully but I don’t do that with any rude or unkind intentions just with the same strength and honesty I think every one of us is entitled to.”

That satisfied the Facebook fan, who said Heigl’s response was “nicely put,” and thanked her “for explaining yourself.” The TV star’s candor, however, probably won’t win over most of her critics.

Last month, Heigl’s former “Grey’s Anatomy” boss Shonda Rhimes took a shot at the actress in a cover story for The Hollywood Reporter. Talking about how smoothly “Scandal” is working behind-the-scenes, Rhimes told the outlet, “There are no Heigls in this situation.”
