Mila Kunis has a designed a ring that she’s now selling to help new mothers in Zambia. In a new video for Gemfields, the leading supplier of responsibly sourced colored gemstones, the actress opens up about her “incredible journey” to becoming a mom and the symbolism behind  her “motherhood ring.”

Kunis, a Global Brand Ambassador for Gemfields, collaborated with Italian jeweler Marina B to create a 18-karat yellow gold emerald ring that celebrates motherhood. Proceeds from the $4,800-a-piece limited edition ring will help fund a maternity center near the Gemfields mine in Zambia.

Kunis, who welcomed a daughter Wyatt Isabelle with fiancé Ashton Kutcher on September 20, says in the video, “Carrying a child and bringing new life into the world marks the start of an incredible journey,” adding, “Throughout history, every culture has its own way of recognizing this extraordinary event, often with a gift for mother or child.” The first-time mom explains that she chose green emeralds because they are “traditionally symbols of motherhood, wisdom and long-lasting love” and are also “a symbol for hope in many cultures.”

The actress says the proceeds from the motherhood rings will “benefit the opening of Gemfields Nkana Health Centre, where four new wards have been built, a major undertaking that will have long-lasting benefits to the local community, one more tool to help them grow and thrive in the land around their Gemfields mines.”
