Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones are NOT headed for a “$300 million divorce,” despite a new report. Gossip Cop is exclusively correcting this story, which was first published on Wednesday on the cover of the National Enquirer.

According to the tabloid, Douglas recently “walked out” on Zeta-Jones, who he feels has already “checked out” of their 14-year marriage. To fill out its story, the outlet alleges the couple had a “massive fight” because Zeta-Jones refused to have a big celebration for Douglas’ 70th birthday on September 25. The magazine then has a so-called “insider” explain that Douglas, who survived Stage 4 throat cancer, saw the milestone birthday as a “big accomplishment” and was so “ticked” off by her refusal that he told Zeta-Jones he had had “enough” of her. Now, claims the tabloid,  Douglas is “preparing himself for the possibility of a $300 million divorce in 2015.”

First off, it’s very convenient for the magazine to says Douglas is “preparing” for the “possibility” of a divorce next year. That way, when the magazine is wrong, readers won’t remember this fake cover story. Alternatively, it also allows the Enquirer time to clean up its current mistake with yet another fabricated story about them calling off their “$300 million divorce.”

More importantly, Douglas is NOT getting ready to leave Zeta-Jones. Actually, the reconciled couple is doing so well, they just purchased a new $11.25 million home in Bedford, New York. In fact, it looks like the only thing the Douglas is preparing to do in 2015 is spend more time with his wife and their two children Dylan and Carys. Regardless, Douglas’ rep tells Gossip Cop exclusively that this latest attempt by the Enquirer is “ridiculous,” while Zeta-Jones’ rep also confirms to us that there’s absolutely “no trouble” in their marriage.
