Shudder! The first official trailer for American Sniper was released Thursday, Oct. 2, giving viewers a first -- and incredibly intense look -- at Bradley Cooper portraying real-life Navy SEAL Chris Kyle.

The Clint Eastwood-directed flick is based on the true story of Kyle, whose memoir American Sniper: The Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in U.S. Military History, topped the New York Times bestseller list for a whopping 13 weeks.
The preview begins with Cooper, peering out through a sniper lens and spotting a man on a ledge. He then sees a woman and young child walk out of the compound amongst rubble in the street.
"Her arms aren't swinging, she's carrying something," Cooper notes. "She's got a grenade, she's handing it to the kid."
The child is then seen running across a field with the grenade as a series of flashbacks of Cooper -- in the hospital delivering his baby, kissing the child's forehead, and more intimate moments — appear on the screen.

Viewers are left wondering whether Cooper (as Kyle) pulls the trigger on the kid.
