An 18-month-old boy named Colin Lambert had to be rescued on Tuesday after he crawled into a toy machine at a laundry mat in Maryville, Tennessee.

The toddler’s grandmother, Diane O’Neill, says she only took her eyes off of Lambert for a moment to check a text message when the boy maneuvered his way into the claw machine filled with stuffed animals. “All I could see was his feet because he had already crawled in,” she tells NBC affiliate WBIR. “I grabbed his feet and tried to pull him back out. He kicked my hand, and he got in.” She continues. “He went in. He climbed up on the shelf and then he climbed over the glass partition and sat down in the toys and played with the toys.”

O”Neill says she wasn’t surprised by her grandson’s actions because he is notorious for crawling into and onto everything he can. “My biggest fear was that he was going to climb back over and try to get back out,” she notes. “The plastic they had that held the toys in was cracked and broken in several places. I was afraid he was going to try to climb over and get hurt.”

Lambert’s grandmother called Maryville firefighters who quickly extricated the boy from the machine and allowed him to keep one toy for all of his hard work.
