16 people died at a pop concert in South Korea on Friday when the ventilation grate they were standing on collapsed, according to officials in Seongnam, south of Seoul.
Another 11 concert goers were seriously injured in the horrifying accident, which occurred during a performance by the girls’ band 4Minute.
When the ventilation grate gave way, the victims, mostly female students, fell approximately 60 feet down a concrete shaft.
Amateur video from the scene (see below) shows the group continuing to perform and many fans still dancing following the accident, unaware of the deadly destruction behind them.
