It's time for yet another Saturday Night Live season premiere — that time when SNL gets to mock all the movies, scandals and other pop culture happenings it's missed out on over the summer.
But before that inevitable Guardians of the Galaxy parody becomes the talk of Twitter, let's look back at what SNL was tackling in its season premieres in years past.
Optimus Prime is a creepy jerk (2009)
Season 35 opened up in the wake up Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, and with Megan Fox hosting, there just had to be a little Optimus Prime action. As it happens out, Fox's roommate "Optimus" was just a dude in a mask who had impure intentions toward Fox.

Amy Poehler's dream sequence (2010)
Amy Poehler used her 2010 opening monologue to address her fears about how things might have changed in the two years since she'd left SNL. Even kissing Justin Timberlake didn't turn out well in this dream.
GOP cold open (2011)
Ah, remember summer 2011? There was so much politics — and so many Republican presidental hopefuls. Host Alec Baldwin got in on the action for a cold open featuring "either the 7th or the 8th GOP debate."

Clint Eastwood and chair (2012)
After his much-panned GOP convention speech involving that chair, Bill Hader took his Clint Eastwood impression to new heights in the season 38 opener.
The new girl (2013)
Season 39 premiered just one day before Breaking Bad's series finale — so Aaron Paul's cameo in the cold open got plenty of much-deserved attention. But it was the Girls parody that really stands the test of time.
