OWN Orders Food Truck Docuseries ‘2 Fat 2 Fly’

The Oprah Winfrey Network is making another move into the culinary space. The cable network's latest series order will follow a pair of best friends and their food truck shilling stuffed chicken wings.

2 Fat 2 Fly, also the name of the truck, received an eight-episode order and will make its debut on OWN's Saturday night reality hub. The pickup comes less than a month after a sneak peak of the show on Aug. 16 scored a cable win among African American women 25-54. (The name has been changed from Wing-Men when the pilot, now a source of litigation, originally aired.)

“This series will be a great addition to our Saturday primetime lineup,” said OWN president Erik Logan. “The escapades of these two best friends are fun to watch and there seems to be no limit to what they might do in their quest to make their business a huge success.”

OWN employed a similar sampling-before-order strategy with upcoming reality show Flex and Shanice. It also stands as the first food-focused reality show for the network since Welcome to Sweetie Pies — now an OWN standard — debuted during its inaugural year.

2 Fat 2 Fly stars Ramone Dickerson and Corey Simmons, who are both trying to grow their business outside of their South Carolina town.

It's being eyed for an early 2015 debut.
