Nicole Kidman’s father Tony Kidman died rather unexpectedly in a Singapore hotel room while visiting the actress’ sister Antonia Marran and her family who live on the island nation.
Police are investigating the “unnatural death,” said a spokesman.
It should be noted, however, that an “unnatural death” refers to a fatal fall or accident, and does not mean foulplay.
Kidman’s father was a highly respected clinical psychiatrist, who was presented an Order of Australia award in 2005 for his work.
Tony Kidman celebrated his 50th wedding anniversary with wife Janelle Kidman and their family back in January.
The Oscar-winning actress has not released a statement yet.
