Michael Phelps is apologizing following his DUI arrest.
On Tuesday, the swimmer took to Twitter to take responsibility for his actions.
"Earlier this morning, I was arrested and charged with DUI, excessive speeding and crossing double lane lines," he Tweeted.
"I understand the severity of my actions and take full responsibility," Phelps continued.
"I know these words may not mean much right now but I am deeply sorry to everyone I have let down," his statement concluded.
The Olympic swimmer was arrested early Tuesday on a DUI charge in Baltimore.
