The 2:09-long video shows two unidentified young men pouring flammable liquid on to a kitten as it sits in a bucket, then setting the kitten on fire.
When the flames are put out, a plastic bag is put over the kitten. The young men's laughter is heard in the background throughout the video.
Facebook users began reporting the video as it appeared in their timelines, only for the social media platform to state that it does not breach "community standards". Facebook's refusal to remove the horrific video has caused outrage.
