Valerie Bertinelli has been touched by an angel. The Hot in Cleveland star, 54, appeared on TLC’s Who Do You Think You Are? (airing Wednesday, Aug. 13 at 9 p.m. ET) to learn more about her lineage.
Bertinelli is mom to son Wolfgang, 23, with ex-husband Eddie Van Halen, and is currently married to financial planner Tom Vitale.

In the clip, researchers from Ancestry.com uncovered that Bertinelli’s great grandmother had her grandmother out of wedlock, marrying her great-grandfather two years later. After they were married, Bertinelli’s great-grandparents welcomed her great-uncle.
The Ancestry.com specialist gave potential reasons behind the delayed marriage, such as cost and dowry concerns, and then dropped an emotional bomb on the TV star.
