It's going to be a big night for Beyonce at the MTV Video Music Awards.
The 32-year-old singer will receive the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, equivalent to a career achievement honor, and also will take the stage at the ceremony for what MTV is describing as an "epic" performance, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. The VMAs will be broadcast from Inglewood, Calif.'s renovated venue The Forum on Sunday, Aug. 24, at 9 p.m. ET/PT on MTV.
Beyonce joins a small list of past Video Vanguard honorees such as Michael Jackson, Britney Spears, Madonna and last year's recipient, Justin Timberlake. She leads this year's pack with eight nominations, including Video of the Year ("Drunk in Love") and best female video ("Partition").
Beyonce also has delivered memorable performances at the VMAs over the years: 2006's "Ring the Alarm," 2009's "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)" and 2011's "Love on Top," where she revealed she was expecting her first baby with husband Jay Z. The two are wrapping up their On the Run Tour, which will be aired as an HBO special in September.
Previously announced VMA performers are Maroon 5, Usher, Ariana Grande and 5 Seconds of Summer. Additional performers and presenters will be announced at a later date.
