On Sunday, Aug. 24, the late Robin Williams was briefly honored in a tribute at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards. The beloved actor and Oscar winner was featured in a slideshow during the live telecast, which lasted less than 30 seconds. The tribute, which wasn’t introduced by a celeb presenter, followed the Artist to Watch award, and segued into a commercial break.

It was an awkward break in an evening that consisted of performances from Nicki Minaj, Taylor Swift, and Usher.
The star of classic films like Mrs. Doubtfire, Dead Poets Society, and Hook died at age 63 after committing suicide in his Tiburon, Calif. home on Aug. 11.
