Disney's Star Wars Rebels animated series has a premiere date.

Star Wars Rebels will make its official television debut with the one-hour movie Spark of Rebellion on Friday, Oct. 3, at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Disney Channel, before the series premieres Monday, Oct. 13, at 9 p.m. ET/PT on sister network Disney XD, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

A sneak preview of Spark of Rebellion, originally screened at San Diego's Comic-Con, will be available to users of the Watch Disney XD app and on WatchDisneyXD.com starting Monday, Sept. 29.

Star Wars Rebels takes place between Star Wars: Episode III — Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV — A New Hope, which spans about two decades. The animated series is set in a time where the Empire is securing its grip on the galaxy and hunting down the last of the Jedi Knights as a fledgling rebellion against the Empire is taking shape.

The crew of the Ghost starship — Jedi Kanan, pilot Hera, street-smart teenager Ezra, the "muscle" Zeb, warrior Sabine and droid Chopper — are only among the few brave enough to stand up against the Empire. They'll face new villains (see: Inquisitor) and adversaries and go on adventures as they become heroes with the ability to ignite a rebellion.

Freddie Prinze Jr., Taylor Gray, Steve Blum, Tiya Sircar, Vanessa Marshall, Jason Isaacs, David Oyelowo and Billy Dee Williams are the voice stars. Dave Filoni, Simon Kinberg and Carrie Beck created the series, which is a Lucasfilm Animation production. Greg Weisman is an executive producer alongside Filoni and Kinberg. The visuals were influenced by original Star Wars concept artist Ralph McQuarrie.

Star Wars Rebels, which was first greenlighted to series in May 2013, will be shown in 34 languages across 163 countries.

Meanwhile, production on J.J. Abrams big-screen follow-up, Star Wars: Episode VII, with stars Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill returning in their iconic roles, resumes filming in London this month after a two-week hiatus due to an injury Ford sustained in June. The film is slated for a Dec. 18, 2015 release.
