Tom Cruise turns 52 on Thursday, and the rumor mill has churned out plenty of doozies about the actor over the years.

From allegations about his spending habits to dating speculation, claims about meltdowns and supposed beauty regimens, there’s almost nothing the tabloids haven’t printed.

1. Tom Does NOT Get “Bird Poo” Facials
Cruise undoubtedly looks good for his age, but it’s definitely not because he gets facials made with nightingales’ excrement. Nor does he wear a special helmet to prevent hair loss or take “preventative measures” for his, um, shrinkage problem. And about that “midlife crisis” over his appearance earlier this year? Yeah, that was also fabricated.
2. Tom Did NOT Give Suri $5 Million for 5th Birthday
OK! claimed Suri struck it rich in 2011, allegedly getting $5 million from daddy Cruise for her 5th birthday. There was also (deep breath) the supposed $30,000 replica racecar, $100,00 tree house, $100,000 pony, $24,000 playhouse, $7 million jet, $25 million Hawaii home (and then an $8 million Hawaiian “dream home”), private island in New Zealand and $150,ooo wardrobe. Not one alleged gift from Cruise was true.
3. Tom and Katie Were NOT Still “Sleeping Together” After Their Split
Nearly six months after Cruise and wife Katie Holmes announced plans to divorce, Star ran a cover story claiming the exes slept together during a rendezvous in New York. It was totally bogus, just like the rumor Cruise was going through a “love detox” to get over her, and the RadarOnline allegation that just weeks after the split, his next wife had already been “chosen.”
4. Tom Does NOT Use Connor as His “Wingman”
Countless rumors popped up about Cruise’s dating life almost as soon as he became a single man again — Cameron Diaz! Malin Akerman’s sister! Roma Downey?! But it doesn’t get much more preposterous than claiming the star’s then-17-year-old son Connor was helping him score women. Ick.
5. Tom Is NOT Leaving Scientology
Cruise must’ve been desperate to leave Scientology behind after it (supposedly) torpedoed yet another relationship, right? WRONG! The devoted follower never had any intention of rejecting the Church — despite the garbage outlets like HollywoodLife tried peddling. Of course, stories about Cruise and Scientology are a tabloid favorite. But, as seen here, ”reporting” on something often doesn’t make it true.
