Canadian cop drama Rookie Blue premiered in the U.S. on Thursday, dropping double digits from last year's summer premiere for ABC. But it wasn't all bad news.
The two-hour season-five opener averaged 5.7 million total viewers and a 1.0 rating among adults 18-49 from 9-11 p.m., retaining 100 percent of its audience across the two hours. Black Box (4 million, 0.7), in its time period premiere, slipped 13 percent.
Fox's Hell's Kitchen (4.9 million, 1.8) was the bright spot on the broadcast slate as the evening's top-rated program among the five networks. Gang Related (2.6 million, 0.9) also saw a bit of an improvement from its last original.
NBC's hour of Undateable (2.6 million, 0.9) was steady and Last Comic Standing (4 million, 1.4) jumped 17 percent.
The CW's broadcast of the 4th annual Critics' Choice TV Awards drew 1.04 million viewers and a 0.3 rating.
CBS aired repeats, barely nudging out ABC for the viewership win (5.19 million versus 5.13 million) on the evening. Fox (3.8 million) placed third, followed by NBC (3.3 million) and The CW. As for the 18-49 demo, Fox won the evening with a 1.3 average, followed by a tie between CBS and NBC (1.1), then ABC (0.9) and The CW.
