"Real Time With Bill Maher"
Bill Maher is going to want to plan his route carefully. The comedian and Real Time host has committed to two live telecasts on HBO, airing back to back -- but set in different venues.
The cable net announced Tuesday that Maher heads to Washington, D.C., on Sept. 12 for a special outing of Real Time in front of an audience at the Sidney Harman Hall. The episode, airing live during the earlier hour of 9 p.m. ET, will be immediately followed by another live telecast five blocks away.
At 10 p.m., Maher will move to another venue just north of the National Mall: the Warner Theatre, .6 miles down E Street. Another audience will be waiting for him there, where he'll perform his 10th stand-up special at the network since his relationship with HBO began in 1989.
There is no word on whether or not HBO plans to document Maher's five-block jaunt between Sidney Harman Hall and the Warner Theatre.
HBO is using the special as a conclusion to Maher's latest recurring segment: "Flip a District." The host has been asking viewers to nominate current elected representatives they'd like to see voted out of office. He'll use the D.C.-set Real Time to announce the winning (or, rather, losing) member of Congress he'll intend to oust in the November midterms.
