Animal Planet Gives Early Renewal to ‘The Pool Master’ (Exclusive)

Animal Planet is committing to more of The Pool Master, ordering a second season of the new backyard improvement series just four days after its premiere.

The Hollywood Reporter has learned that the Discovery Communications cable network has ordered six new episodes and an additional special planned for spring 2015. The move comes after positive premiere numbers for the series, which earned 1 million viewers and 421,000 adults 25-54. The Pool Master ranked especially well in the male demos, helping Animal Planet rank No. 4 in cable among the M25-54 and M18-49 demos.

It's the latest human-centric effort for the network, which has seen success with the similarly home-improvement-themed Treehouse Masters — also airing on Fridays. It's produced for Animal Planet by Punch Drunk and Original Media with Rob Hill and Daniel Laikind as executive producers.

Producers are already scouting for new backyards to be tackled by host and pool designer Anthony Archer-Wills.
