Tuesday night belonged to America's Got Talent. NBC's summer flagship, which did not have the benefit of a Voice lead-in like it did last year, returned more or less even with its most recent premiere. The two-hour episode averaged a 3.0 rating among adults 18-49 and 11.9 million viewers -- easily making it the top show of the night.
Lead-out Night Shift, NBC's long-delayed drama order from 2013, made a solid entry to the schedule with a 1.6 rating in the key demo. That's better than comparable premiere Camp fared last summer. NBC won the night in both adults 18-49 (2.5 rating) and total viewers (10.5 million).
ABC enjoyed second-place status in the three-network race -- both CBS and the CW aired encores -- with the return of Extreme Weight Loss (1.3 adults). The reality show was up a tenth of a point from last summer's debut. Amid less competition, Celebrity Wife Swap (1.2 adults) also recouped three-tenths of a point from its last outing.
The second episode of game show Riot (0.5 adults) was improved a tenth of a point on Fox but still quite low. And I Wanna Marry 'Harry,' without even an Idol lead-in to assist, solidified its flop status with a 0.4 rating among adults 18-49.
