E! gets into the scripted game with a soap centered on British royalty.
The Royals, from One Tree Hill creator Mark Schwann, is an hourlong drama about a fictional royal family living in modern-day London. The leader of the family is Queen Helena (Elizabeth Hurley), who will protect her family's image by any means necessary.
A snappy 20-second teaser with the catchy "Anarchy in the monarchy" tagline premiered during the NBCUniversal upfront Thursday in New York. Set to a modern rock score, the footage largely appeals to E!'s female-skewing audience.
Vincent Regan, William Moseley, Alexandra Park, Tom Austen, Jake Maskall, Ukweli Roach and Oliver Milburn round out the ensemble drama. It premieres in 2015.
