Showtime is mapping out a trip to the World's End.
The premium network is teaming with Bored to Death's Jonathan Ames to adapt Icelandic dramedy World's End, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
World's End centers on a high school English teacher, struggling with life, love and his disaffected students, who spins out of control and winds up committed to a mental institution, where, ironically, he finally feels normal and becomes the leader of an inmate revolt.

Showtime's half-hour take is based on the hourlong Icelandic series Heimsendir from SagaFilm, the leading independent production company in Iceland for drama, comedy and entertainment TV. Ames will pen the script and executive produce alongside Electus chairman Ben Silverman and Bored to Death EP/manager Stephanie Davis.
The original series aired nine episodes in 2011, receiving four Edda Award (Iceland's version of the Emmys) nominations including for TV show of the year. (Watch a clip of the original, below.)
For Ames, the comedy marks his second project in the past few weeks. He also created Starz's upcoming Patrick Stewart comedy series Blunt Talk, from exec producer Seth MacFarlane. The premium cabler picked up the live-action comedy for two 10-episode seasons.
Silverman, meanwhile, exec produces Jane the Virgin, The CW's adaptation of the Venezuelan telenovela, as well as Netflix's upcoming Marco Polo drama, among other unscripted fare.
Ames is repped by WME and Davis at Wetdog Entertainment.
