Bill Hader to Create and Star in HBO Comedy

Bill Hader is heading to HBO.

The Saturday Night Live alum has inked a development deal with the pay cable network to create and star in a new comedy series, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

Hader wrapped up his eight-season run as a castmember on SNL in 2013 and was nominated for two supporting actor in a comedy series Emmys.

During his run on NBC's late-night staple, Hader created a rich portfolio of memorable recurring characters, including Stefon and Italian talk-show host Vinny Vedecci, and also did celebrity impersonations, among them Al Pacino and James Carville.

Hader, who also served as a consulting writer on Comedy Central's South Park, has appeared in a slew of projects, most recently recurring on Fox's The Mindy Project, lending his voice to fellow SNL alum Seth Meyers' The Awesomes and Bob's Burgers, and starring in several films (The Skeleton Twins, The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby). He next stars in Judd Apatow's Trainwreck.
