The top five remaining singers on American Idol were cut down to four, but not before host Ryan Seacrest teased viewers that there would be a "shocking" twist that even the contestants didn't know about.
Before that reveal, Harry Connick Jr. took a second to praise the top five for making it this far, and told them that they have now become young professionals in this "crazy business."
After the traditional contestant's last supper, where we got to relive some of Wednesday night's greatest moments --i ncluding Caleb Johnson recreating his epic Whitesnake scream and shy Sam Woolf meeting his dream girl Ariana Grande -- it was time to get down to business.

But not so fast! First we were treated to a white guy with a guitar, as Keith Urban performed his new single "Good Thing" and perfectly demonstrated just how to find the "release" in a song. The single is a good, stomping song, and Urban, looking resplendent in black, seemed ready to enjoy the second leg of his popular Fuse tour this summer.
Mentor Randy Jackson once again gave his thoughts on the previous night's show of fan-picked songs, as he talked about how the top five is the beginning of the "mad dash" to the end. As for Jena Irene's triumphant turn with Young The Giant's "My Body," Jackson said she "killed it." Alex Preston "gave everything" to his performance of "Say Something," by A Great Big World and had him "in it from jump to end." Jackson was less than kind to Jess Meuse, saying "performance wise, she didn't have the best night." He felt that Woolf started shaky, but "got it going" by his second song. Johnson, he surmised, "turned the place upside down."
At this point, Seacrest revealed the twist: that the evening's results would be in the Idols hands. Their choice? Either the person with the lowest amount of votes would go home, or nobody would go home and two singers would get cut next week. The caveat? It had to be a unanimous vote.

Ballots were passed out, and after a 3-2 vote, it was decided that the show would stick to the plan and send someone home.
Jennifer Lopez was surprised that the kids voted to get it over with. The unlucky person being sent home was Woolf.
Woolf went out with a performance of "It's Time" by Imagine Dragons, and it was, indeed, his time to go home.
