NBC narrowly beat CBS on Tuesday night, with The Voice shedding three-tenths of a point for a series low at 8 p.m. After the competition scored a 2.8 rating among adults 18-49, comedies About a Boy (1.8 adults) and Growing Up Fisher (1.5 adults) dropped a respective two- and one-tenths of a point. Chicago Fire (1.9 adults) staged a steady return, even with its last outing, while NBC posted a 2.1 demo rating and 8.1 million viewers for the night.

CBS, which topped in total viewers (13.2 million), ranked a close second in the demo -- averaging a 2.0 rating. NCIS (2.6 adults), one of the night's few shows to improve, was up two-tenths of a point, while NCIS: LA (2.3 adults) dropped a tenth.
The weekend box office record of Marvel's Captain America sequel did give any lifts to franchise sibling Agents of SHIELD. The series, which last week saw its preliminaries adjusted two-tenths, was down three-tenths of a point to a new series low 1.7 rating among adults 18-49. Comedies The Goldbergs (1.4 adults) and Trophy Wife (0.8 adults) were also down by a tenth to series lows. ABC took a 1.1 rating in the demo and 3.4 million viewers.
Glee (1.0 adults) improved a tenth of a point on Fox, while back-to-back episodes of The Mindy Project (1.0 adults, 1.1 adults) were even and up a tenth -- respectively. Fox took a 1.0 rating with adults 18-49 and 2.6 million viewers.
