Samantha Harris will have a double mastectomy to treat breast cancer later this month.
The former “Dancing with the Stars” co-host revealed the news on Wednesday.
She detected a lump in her right breast during a routine self-examination last fall.
A subsequent needle biopsy and lumpectomy led to the diagnosis.
“It felt like an elephant was sitting on my chest,” Harris tells People.
The mother of two says that making the decision to have a double mastectomy instead of a second lumpectomy with radiation was a difficult one, but that once she made the choice, “I felt so much calmer.”
