MTV’s ‘Faking It’ Pilot Debuting Early (Exclusive Video)

MTV is giving early access to the full pilot of Faking It, a half-hour comedy revolving around two best friends, Karma (Katie Stevens) and Amy (Rita Volk), who pretend to be lesbians to gain social standing.

One week before the series' official launch, the Viacom-owned network will make the premiere episode available on the MTV app for 48 hours beginning Tuesday, marking the first time a scripted MTV series has debuted early. Faking It kicks off its season April 22 at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT following Awkward.

As part of the rollout, MTV will begin unveiling character promos, one of which The Hollywood Reporter exclusively debuts. One such teaser, which will hit various online and broadcast platforms Wednesday, centers on Shane (Michael Willett), a gay Hester High student who is friends with school jock Liam (Gregg Sulkin), and who happens to be the keeper of everyone's secrets.

This isn't the first time a Viacom network has offered a preview of an upcoming series through the app avenue, though previous sneak peeks were relegated to unscripted fare such as MTV's football docuseries Wait Til Next Year, which released its full season, and VH1's TLC biopic CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story.
