Miley Cyrusallergic reaction to an antibiotic was so bad, her throat nearly closed up.

A rep for the singer says Cyrus was prescribed the drug cephalexin to treat a sinus infection after getting sick last week, but within days she “suffered an extreme allergic reaction,” and her throat swelled so significantly that she could hardly speak.

After getting rushed to the hospital on Tuesday, doctors determined the medication was causing the problems — and say she won’t be released until her condition improves.

It’s estimated that could take anywhere from five to 27 days.

Earlier today, Gossip Cop busted erroneous reports that claimed Cyrus’ health woes were due to drugs, partying, and the death of her dog.

A third concert has been canceled since the star’s illness began, and it seems likely several more dates will be missed.

Cyrus’ rep tells Gossip Cop the singer “will remain hospitalized and is under a doctor’s care until we see some improvement in her condition, and is asking for your compassion and privacy at this time.”

The performer “is devastated about missing shows and possibly disappointing her fans,” adds her spokesperson.

We’ll continue to have updates.
