IFC is ready to give comedy fanatics a double dose of funny via two of its most buzzed-about shows.
The network is readying the May 8 premieres of Maron and Comedy Bang! Bang!, and for their new seasons the comedies will air back-to-back Thursdays at 10 p.m. and 10:30 pm., respectively.
In a clip from season two of Maron, star Marc Maron is shown backstage of the AMC show The Talking Dead. True to Maron form, the comedian doesn't get along with host Chris Hardwickor fellow guest Michael Ian Black.
In a clip from Comedy Bang! Bang!, guest star Patton Oswalt does what he does best -- talk about Star Wars -- with Scott Aukerman.
"Maron in this second season has evolved. It's the same Maron, but he's learned from his mistakes in season one," IFC's VP of current productions Christine Lubrano says of the fictionalized version Marc Maron plays of himself in his show.
She tells The Hollywood Reporter that while Maron is about real-life scenarios and Comedy Bang! Bang! tends toward the outrageous, IFC believes the two will pair together perfectly.

"Marc really has no boundaries when it comes to wanting to expose the real-life issues that he faces. It obviously lends itself to good comedic opportunities," says Lubrano. "For Bang! Bang! it's a little different. It's sort of about imagining the unimaginable. It's less about real life and more about 'how can we make something so zany and so over the top work?' "
