Josh Elliott has already left Good Morning America, but on Thursday morning the show paid tribute to its former news anchor.
Elliott, who recently took at job with NBC Sports, made his last appearance on ABC's morning show Friday.
"You know that we're so sad to see him go," GMA co-host Robin Roberts said on Monday's show. "I know you [the viewers] are sad to see him go. But he is returning to his roots in sports."

She then introduced a package of "our favorite Josh moments," which ranged from the silly (a messy encounter with a kinkajou, his best pirate impression) to the serious (a meeting with the pope, coverage of soldiers reuniting with their families).
Elliott make his debut with NBC Sports as part of its May 3 coverage of the Kentucky Derby. After that, his role will be a combination of reporting, interviews and hosting across NBC Sports platforms and events.
Elliott, part of the GMA team that helped to topple the Today show's 16-year morning news streak, had been in a heated negotiation with ABC executives for many months. Multiple sources told The Hollywood Reporter that Elliott will make $4 million annually in a long-term contract with NBC Sports that also includes a production deal. That's less than the $5 million ABC News was willing to shell out to keep him.

He informed the network Sunday of his decision to depart.
"I can assure you this decision was a deeply personal decision to return to a world in a role that I never could have dreamed," he told reporters earlier this week. "I do want to say that coming here was the best decision for me, but it was a decision that was tough to make."
Amy Robach took over the role of GMA news anchor on Monday.
