Third time was not the charm for Kyle Killen. ABC has pulled his midseason drama Mind Games after just five episodes.
News of the freshman's axing comes as little surprise -- it hit a series low 0.6 rating among adults 18-49 and just 2 million viewers during its last episode -- but the network didn't exactly have anything waiting in the wings to replace it. Mind Games' cancellation comes after two other short-lived entries in ABC's 10 p.m. Tuesday slot: Lucky 7 and Killer Women.

It also marks the third time creator Killen has been one-season-and-done with a broadcast drama. Fox famously pulled critical darling Lone Star after just two episodes in 2010, and Awake only lasted one (abbreviated) season on NBC.
This latest drama axing would probably be harder to stomach for ABC were it not for the recent success of Resurrection on Sundays. The other midseason drama has been a much-needed breakout for ABC this season, premiering to an impressive 3.8 adults rating earlier in March. Unsurprisingly, encores of Resurrection will now occupy Mind Games' time slot for the next two weeks, April 1 and April 8.
Celebrity Wife Swap will return to the schedule on April 15, holding the hour until ABC launches its summer block.
Starring Steve Zahn and Christian Slater and produced by 20th Century Fox Television, Mind Games was soft to start. The Feb. 25 series debut only posted a 1.1 rating in the key demo and 3.6 million viewers.
