Janet McTeer to Co-Star in CBS’ Vince Gilligan/David Shore Drama ‘Battle Creek’

Based on a 2002 spec, the drama centers on Ross, a detective, and Milton, an FBI agent, with very different worldviews who are teamed up. Together, they must answer the question: Is cynicism, guile and deception enough to clean up the semi-mean streets of Battle Creek, Mich., in the face of a complete lack of resources; or is the exact opposite true -- it takes naivete, trust and a boatload of resources?

McTeer will play Commander Guziewicz, Ross' superior who doesn't understand why he always wants to cut through the crap and the commander of the Battle Creek Police Department. The character is tough but soft with a sweet sense of humor. Polite, patient and smart, she's the boss but treats her cops with respect and believes in social niceties before delivering bad news.

Gilligan penned the initial script with the Breaking Bad alum and House's David Shore set to serve as showrunner. The duo will both executive produce the Sony Pictures Television and CBS Television Studios drama alongside Breaking Bad's Mark Johnson. Kal Penn co-stars as Russ' partner.

For McTeer, Battle Creek marks her latest small-screen role joining Starz's The White Queen, Parade's End, Damages andSense & Sensibility. On the big screen, McTeer has earned two Oscar nominations for her work in Albert Nobbs and Tumbleweeds. She's repped by Curtis Brown Group and The Schiff Co.
