“Mum’s the word,” says Oscar nominee Lupia Nyong’o, who isn’t revealing if she’s picked a dress for this weekend’s Academy Awards.
“I plead the fifth, completely,” she told us!
I can’t blame her for wanting to hold on to her style secret for as long as she can. Her red carpet journey has been a bright one – most recently with this burnt orange Givenchy at Saturday’s NAACP Image Awards.
She’s dabbled in just about every color of the rainbow and has become a style icon in the process!
“It wasn’t on my agenda,” she told us. “You know I didn’t wake up one morning and say one day I’m going to be a style icon. So, you know, it’s been amazing to have that bestowed on me, and to have so many people celebrate my style. And it’s been fun also, you know.”
I love that she’s not afraid of color — the bolder the better!
It was all about emerald green with her strapless Dior at the BAFTA’s.
And red ruled the Golden Globes with that made-everyone’s-best-dressed-list Ralph Lauren ensemble.
“I mean that cape…I felt like I could take off at any moment and fly, you know? R Kelly’s song was in my head most of the night,” she laughed.
An ultra-feminine turquoise Gucci stole the show at the Screen Actors Guild Awards.
“I just love those three dimensional flowers, and…the color as well. Yeah.”
Her bright yellow J. Mendel stunned at the Hollywood Film Awards.
“That one I just loved the color and I thought the neckline was very interesting and uh yeah, that’s why I picked that one.”
And Lupita was white hot in a sexy cut out gown at the Critics’ Choice Awards.
“That Calvin Klein (had) very clean lines and I just loved the shape of it and it was desert-y where we were and…Yeah. I really liked it.”
Her walk down the Oscar red carpet is one of the most anticipated — it goes without saying that she’s one to watch.
“It’s been one wonder after another and so I’m just, I’m just very aware at the moment that life is amazing,” she laughed.
