Phil Everly of Everly Brothers Dies at 74

Phil Everly has died.

One half of The Everly Brothers, the musician passed away on Friday in Burbank, California.

He was 74.

Everly’s death was caused by complications from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, according to his wife.

“We are absolutely heartbroken,” Patti Everly tells the Los Angeles Times. “He fought long and hard.”

Over the course of their storied career, The Everly Brothers amassed more than two dozen singles on the Hot 100 chart.

They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986 and received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1997.

Everly is survived by his brother Don, as well as his two sons and other family members.
