FX Picks Up Two Comedy Series, Including Judy Greer Vehicle

FX is expanding its comedy roster, ordering its Judy Greer-Nat Faxon starrer Married and Stephen Falk entry You're the Worst to series. The network has picked up 10 episodes of both comedies, with both premiering in July.

From Andrew Gurland (Mail Order Wife), Married revolves around the lengths to which two best friends are willing to go in order to salvage their marriage. Greer (Archer) plays Lina Bowman, the wife to Faxon's Russ Bowman. The couple gets along great in every room -- save the bedroom. The project reunites Greer with Faxon, who won an Oscar for writing The Descendants, in which she co-starred. The series order also expands Greer's role with FX, where she is a regular part of animated comedy Archer's voice cast. Jenny Slate (House of Lies, Parks and Recreation) co-stars alongside Brett Gelman (Kroll Show).

Gurland penned the script and directed the pilot. He exec produces alongside Paul Young and Peter PrincipatoSalamo Levin, who developed the entry with Gurland, produced the FX Productions half-hour.

Falk's (Weeds, Orange Is the New Black, NBC's ill-fated Next Caller Please) You're the Worst is described as a love story about what happens when two toxic, self-destructive people fall in love despite themselves and attempt the impossible -- a relationship. Chris Geere (The Spa), Aya Cash (The Wolf of Wall Street), Kether Donohue (The Carrie Diaries) and Desmin Borges (The Good Wife) star in the FX Productions entry.

Married and You’re the Worst represent the continuing expansion of our comedy brand. They are smart, funny and adult. Married is a frank and honest portrayal of a marriage -- both good and bad. You’re the Worst examines relationships -- or lack thereof -- of millennials and the uncertainty and anxiety that comes with those relationships. There is tremendous talent behind these shows and we couldn’t happier about the quality of these pilots,” FX original programming president Nick Grad said.

The comedies were among the 12 pilots FX Productions currently has in the works, as FX and FXX bulk up on originals. Its pilot roster includes Billy Crystal starrer The Comedian, Tracy Morgan's Do or Die, Denis Leary's Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll, Charlie Kaufman comedy How & Why as well as an untitled half-hour from Zach Galifianakis and Louis C.K., among others.

The two new series join a roster of original comedies at FX and FXX that includes rookie animated series Chozen, Wilfred (which will return for its fourth and final season on FXX), Anger Management, Archer, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, The League and Legit.
