"I do have a good Christmas story," the comedic host, 55, confessed to the audience during a "Celebrity Christmas Stories" show segment. "I got her a car," she shared. "That was easy. I had to hide it in the attic, which was not easy," she joked.
"There's a car called the [Land Rover] Defender, and every time she sees one, she says 'I love that truck, they're so cool,'" DeGeneres added. (The vehicle is a rare find because the model is no longer manufactured.)

The couple had planned a shopping trip leading up to Christmas in a mall, where DeGeneres had strategically placed her present in the parking lot near the entrance in advance of their outing. As DeGeneres expected, de Rossi pointed out the parked vehicle, complete with a bow, as they walked by it: "What about that car, did you get me that for Christmas?" she joked. DeGeneres, meanwhile, had taken out her camera phone to film the magical moment. "That's cool, very cool," she responded from behind while her wife gawked at the car.

"It has a bow on it. Oh god, that's insane," said de Rossi, 40, who turned around to DeGeneres who held up the keys to her new car. The flabbergasted de Rossi's reaction is priceless as her smiling face drops to a stunned expression. "I was joking. Are you kidding me?" de Rossi remarks in utter disbelief in the video. DeGeneres joked to audience members Friday, "Oh, she was crying but then she ruined the upholstery."

The funny couple married in August 2008 and re-created an amusing "Bound 2" inspired Christmas card, from Kanye West and Kim Kardashian's raunchy music video, which read: "Bound for a Merry Christmas, Love, Ellen & Portia."
DeGeneres recently slammed a tabloid rumor that her marriage with de Rossi was on the rocks. "I'm very happily married," the host said during a show monologue in December. "In fact, the only thing we ever argue about is who loves who more. That is all. It really is true. And we argue if we'd let a kangaroo carry us around in its pouch for a year."
