Clay Aiken is reportedly thinking about making a run for the U.S. Congress.

The onetime “American Idol” finalist is “actively considering” a campaign to represent his native North Carolina in the U.S. House of Representatives, according to the Washington Blade.

Republican Renee Ellmers currently represents the state’s 2nd district, which Aiken is said to be targeting — along with other potential Democratic challengers.

He has reportedly talked with the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and met with local strategists, pollsters and political figures about a possible candidacy.

Aiken, who has not commented on his reported interest in the congressional seat, has pursued activism as well as music in the decade since “Idol” launched him to stardom.

He has until February 28 to file for the Democratic Party primary, which will be held in May.
